Kensell Sales, in its 54th year as the regions largest Holden dealer started with humble beginnings back in 1923. Back then it was produce Kensells were selling, not cars. Roy Kensell opened the store where the Central Hotel now stands, with no way of knowing how big the seed he planted would grow. The family first started selling motor vehicles in 1925, trading as A.R Kensell, dealers of the Maxwell marque.
It was common in those days for produce stores to supplement their income selling vehicles – so it should come as no surprise they also became franchisees of the International Harvester Company. A.R Kensell went into a brief partnership in 1926 with Maunder Pty Ltd, which was dissolved in September 1927 – the Kensell name returning to sole trader status.
